With human resource being the greatest asset of our nation, innovative ideas are in abundance in India. We have witnessed rural innovations, which have turned into global corporations like Lijjat Papad. And then there are urban enterprises like bookmyshow, which have grown at an alarming pace too. Our nation possesses an advent of different ideas. India's intellectual capital is its greatest strength and that would lead us to become the next superpower. Corporations from across the globe are investing in India. The recent example being of Twitter’s acquisition of Bangalore based startup ZipDial for a deal believed to be around 30 Million USD.

Looking at the governmental initiatives, India is at the brim of a political transformation. With the appointment of a new government and a Prime Minister who is constantly emphasizing on business growth and creation of an eco-system, which nurtures new ideas India seems to be on the right track. In the union budget for the year 2014 – 15, our government has allotted massive Rs. 10,000 crore funds for startups and it is believed to increase in the upcoming budget too. In terms of infrastructure, lots of progress has been made in terms of offering zones at both educational and non-educational avenues, which are technologically at par with several other global campuses and cities.

The world is well aware of the intellectual potential of our country. Graduates from top schools in India are in high demand in several multinational corporations. There have been cases where an MBA from IIM has been offered the same kind of high salaries as those who graduate from Harvard and Stanford. There is no dearth of ideas or potential in India, all that remains is implementation of them. Often the red tape systems and corruption is blamed for India’s slow progress and the greatest hurdle stopping it from turning into a superpower, but that too is being diminished slowly and steadily.

Lastly, apart from global attention in terms of investing and acquisition of Indian talent, several ‘Glocals’ (Global Locals) have realized it is best to come back and start something on their own. There are plenty of such case studies that can be cited here, one such story is of ONergy. Established by two brothers, Vinay Jaju (worked in Australia) and Piyush Jaju (worked in Hong Kong) both returned back home to create a startup focused on creating solar energy solutions. The growth and success of several startups has been good and such success stories are what would contribute in turning India into a Superpower.

Here are some fast facts that clearly highlights why India will be the next superpower:

  1. A massive 51% of India’s workforce comprises of entrepreneurs i.e. they are self-employed. UK has only 14%.
  2. India has the second largest mobile user base in the world. That means in terms of connectivity, over 220 million people use the internet. A blessing for any software company.

India continues to be an exciting destination for the world to invest in. The sheer volume of people who are a ready consumer base for goods and services always acts as an advantage. These are exciting times for our nation and only time will tell how and when we emerge as superpower.
